Join us for a two hour workshop and make a hanging spiral willow basket!

Workshop Description: This class is open to total beginners as well as professional crafters. In this workshop, we will use a template to craft a conical shaped hanging spiral willow basket. These unique baskets are good for holding things such as garlic, small fruits, a glass jar lantern, a block of suet, or dried flower arrangements. We will discuss some basics of willow basketry while acknowledging the accessibility of the craft, the materials, the history of the land we are gathered upon, and the current cultural environment we practice this craft within. Capacity: 10-12 people
Bring: An outdoor blanket to work on and a sharp pair of pruning shears if you have one. We will also have shears available for folks to use.
Age limit: 15+
Note: Please note this class will require average-moderate hand strength and may not be a good fit for those with hand sensitivities including hand injuries and arthritis. We'll also be working on the ground. Please reach out to the instructor for more clarification or any questions about accessibility.

About the Instructor: Frea Forager (pronounced FREE-yuh; she/they) helps people tap into the potent medicine of their own creativity and deepen their connection to the natural world through earth crafts. She is committed to fostering an equitable and liberatory approach to craft work. Her teaching will thoughtfully explore how craft practices, education, and materials are connected to broader social issues such as historical and ongoing injustices, including land theft, historical and ongoing genocides, and systemic racism and oppression. Refunds: Refunds minus a $15 processing fee are available up to two weeks before event. After that, a credit will be issued for a broom/basket purchase or future workshop.
